ELIGIBILITY:

Any current permanent full-time faculty member of a Newfoundland and Labrador public college program of studies, who is a member in good standing with the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland and Labrador (AETTNL) and instructs in a nationally accredited program of studies as recognized by the Technology Accreditation Canada.

CRITERIA:


1.) Exemplary instructional practices that combine excellence and innovation to maximize students’ assimilation of the subject matter

This may include:

  • the adaptability of one’s instructional methodologies for a diverse student population
  • integrating high levels of asynchronous and synchronized technological tolls to deliver instruction
  • participating in workshops, seminars, and professional associations
  • expertise in andrological instructional methodologies, student advising, course design, program development, curriculum development and innovative instructional methods

2.) Impact on students and the profession

This may include:

  • participating in workshops, seminars and professional associations
  • ability to establish professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • actively participates in program reviews and program accreditation processes
  • student feedback which indicates instructional excellence and student satisfaction
  • statements from colleagues, campus director, and students who have observed instructional techniques

3. Effective use of the environment in which the nominee teaches

This may include:

  • demonstrating initiative and success in implementing service-learning to support program outcomes
  • making use of resources in the community; guest speakers, field trips, etc. to enhance learning

INSTRUCTIONS

Please submit the following nomination form to the 2020-2021 Instructional Excellence Award Committee, at the above-noted address. In addition to the nomination form, the following documents must be submitted to the Committee, c/o Registrar in a sealed envelope, on or by October 8, 2020.

  1. A SUBMISSION JUSTIFYING THE NOMINATION (2 TO 3 PAGES Maximum ) WHICH INCLUDES A SUMMARY IN POINT FORM HIGHLIGHTING MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO INSTRUCTIONAL EXCELLENCE AND ENGINEERING/APPLIED SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION.
  2. ADDITIONAL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION SUCH AS:
  • LETTERS OF SUPPORT FROM AETTNL STUDENTS MEMBERS (MANDATORY; 2 OR MORE STUDENT NOMINATIONS)
  • LETTER OF SUPPORT FROM THE NOMINEE’S CAMPUS DIRECTOR  OR COORDINATING INSTRUCTOR (MANDATORY)
  • LETTERS OF SUPPORT FROM PROFESSIONAL COLLEAGUES
  • EXAMPLES OF EXCEPTIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COLLEGE AND/OR TECHNICAL EDUCATION
  • THE CANDIDATE’S C.V. (REQUIRED)
