Right to Title Legislation Survey Coming!

NL Statistics Agency will be sending a survey link in an email from NLSASurveys@gov.nl.ca

AETTNL has submitted an application to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador requesting the establishment of professional recognition and Right to Title legislation for certified applied science and engineering technicians and technologists in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Right to Title legislation is related to a profession whereas only members of a regulatory body can make use or specific titles and abbreviations allowed to them by law. Individuals who are not members of that regulatory body may practice the occupation, but they may not use any of these titles or allow others to believe (by using a similar title or abbreviation) they are members of a regulatory body.

The purposed legislation would mandate that AETTNL be the provincial certifying body for applied science and engineering technicians and technologist in the province and that its professional designations be provincially recognized and protected for use by certified member of the Association only.

This is the last piece of information gathering required by the Department of Advanced Education, Skills and Labour and Service NL to complete their analysis. AETTNL members, non-members and the public will be invited to participate in the survey regarding Right to Title legislation for applied science and engineering technicians and technologist in the Province.

Please note, as current AETTNL members, you will receive the survey directly from the Newfoundland and Labrador Statistics Agency’s email address: NLSASurveys@gov.nl.ca. We kindly ask that you complete it as soon as possible.

The survey will run from July 10 to August 2, 2019. It should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Any additional inquires regarding the survey can be made to righttotitle@gov.nl.ca or aettnl@aettnl.com .

Privacy Note:
The information being collected will be protected under the authority of the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA) of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Please be assured that your answers will be kept strictly confidential and published in aggregate form only, no individuals will be identified.
