Team Lead, Work Execution MFG

As a Team Lead, Work Execution for Muskrat Falls Generation, you will be responsible for Generation asset groups within the established Nalcor Asset Management framework, and the management of associated trades, and tools and equipment resources, as required, to execute the weekly, monthly and annual asset work plans. You will also be responsible for providing technical guidance and direction in matters pertaining to sound operating standards and prudent maintenance practices for the Generation assets.
You exercise a high level of personal initiative and judgement in ensuring that work is performed with a focus on safety, the environment, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and effectiveness, and reports on work execution metrics. You recognize the dynamic nature of long and short-term asset work plans and provide input to long-term planning function. Specific duties of the position will include the following:
Ensures safe execution of the work plans
Ensure staffing levels, necessary tools, and inventories are available to perform the work identified in the annual work plan.
Coordinates preparation of and administers annual operating budgets
Assists long term and short term planning personnel in building annual maintenance plan and schedules for project work and the maintenance backlog, using priority and equipment service availability constraints
Tracks and manages progress of the annual maintenance plan / PM’s and informs long term planning staff on same
Ensures that work is performed in accordance with approved work methods and within the guidelines of Nalcor work protection code
Communicates regularly with other Work Execution Managers on field activities, and promotes this process for supervisory staff
Advises staff on matters relating to their productivity and safety and provides coaching when required
Assists in preparation of and administers contracts and service agreements
Sets priorities on emergency and maintenance activities that best achieve the aims of the Corporation
Ensures that adequate inventory levels are maintained as necessary to maintain the equipment
Ensures that all operating and maintenance procedures are consistent with ISO 14001 environmental standards
Ensures compliance with all pertinent legislative requirements such as OH&S Act, TDG Act, Environmental Protection Act, Labor Standards Act, etc
Maintains a current knowledge of, and ensures that the Collective Agreement is administered consistently across the Corporation, in coordination with the Human Resources Department
Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports on monthly activities, safety and environmental statistics, equipment performance, and equipment outages
Assists in the administration and application of the Corporate Environment Standards
Performs other related duties as required
This position operates in a highly technical field, requiring a Bachelor of Engineering degree or Graduation from a three year technology course and be eligible for membership in the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists of Newfoundland or PEGNL. You also have a minimum 5 years of progressively responsible electric utility experience with relevant and transferable experience at the supervisory or management level. A combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered. You have excellent relationship building and communication skills as well as a proven background in team building, decision making and leadership. You are well versed in planning, organizing and supervising in a highly technical environment. You have experience with the administration of collective agreements. You are proficient in various computer programs and corporate applications such as MS Office suite, JD Edwards, maintenance programs etc.
