A New Designation

Registered Technology Manager, (RTMgr)

In response to members’ responses to the December 2020 Member Survey Report, the Association of Engineering Technicians and Technologists Inc is pleased to announce the finalization of a legal licensure agreement with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (ASTTBC) to begin offering this new certification in Newfoundland and Labrador in September 2021.

Applicants must be a member in good standing with AETTNL as either a P.Tech, CET, AScT or C.Tech. The applicant must also be in a management position within a technology environment and meet the prescribed levels of experience, education, and competency. All RTMgr’s are required to report their Continuous Professional Development Activities upon renewal of their certification annually.

An RTMgr applicant will have met all the requirements for certification. An RTMgr (Provisional) is an applicant who is currently engaged in academic qualification courses in technology or business management and has successfully acquired the primary and secondary competencies

Members Survey Report  December 2020

AETTNL members’ support for a mandatory Continuous Professional Development program is high. 62 % either strongly agreeing or agreeing with its implementation.76.5 % of the survey respondent either strongly agree or agree with the implementation of continuous learning and professional development Policy and Procedure

Members see themselves as progressively either being in supervisory or management roles and see value in an AETTNL certification for those skills.  43 % would “personally” consider pursuing a proposed RTMgr designation. 56% of the survey respondents support implementing this designation.
